Side Gig Jobs For Extra Income
This page is part of the Zero To Hero series of Financial Freedom Blueprints and provides information on generating additional income to your regular job.
The Slavery Of Working For Money
Before I continue to discuss how to make extra money on the side, I want to make sure that you understand that you are trading your time (i.e. your life) for money when you work for money on an hourly basis. Learn more about what I mean by this here. This scenario keeps the vast majority of the population in a form of financial slavery. If you want to break the chains of this slavery and earn money independent of the amount of time you work, please consider building and/or buying what I call “money machines” or “wealth machines”. Details on how to do this can be found here.
The Benefits Of Side Income
Generating some side income in addition to your normal “day job” has a number of benefits, including:
- Shortening the time to recover from financial hardship
- Escalating your chances of achieving financial prosperity
- Providing extra income to increase your emergency savings and opportunity funds
- Allowing you to buy money machines at a faster rate and escape financial slavery faster
After you make additional income and get yourself into a better financial situation, you should strive to focus on building wealth through the acquisition of money machines. This can free you from financial slavery and lead to a life that is more enjoyable, relaxing and fulfilling.
How To Get Side Gigs
If you have access to a cellphone and computer with Internet access, you can search a site like craigslist.org for people that are looking for services. You can also post the fact that you are willing to provide these services to people in your local area. If you do not have a cellphone, Internet access, or transportation, you’re going to have to walk your neighborhood and local community and offer your services in person. Just remember, the tougher the fight, the sweeter the reward.
Ideas For Side Gigs
Here are a few ideas for side jobs that can bring you in extra income:
- Mowing lawns
- Raking leaves
- Picking up trash
- Washing windows
- Teaching piano or guitar lessons
- Offering grocery delivery services through Shipt.com or a similar service
- Offering transportation services through Uber or Lyft
- Offering consulting services (e.g. computer tech support)
Be creative when coming up with ideas for side jobs. Just remember this – there are people with more money than you who would gladly pay you to do the things they’d rather not do. Figure out what they need and provide it to them at the best price and with exceptional service.
Pay It Forward
The people who are paying you are essentially buying some of their time back, and that provides for your well-being. As you become more financially secure, make sure to pay others back by hiring people to help you out.
